TSMC operates a chip foundry where they manufacture around 60% of the world’s semiconductor chips. It’s safe to say that if TSMC sneezes, the semiconductor industry catches a cold. Companies like NVIDIA, Intel, and AMD rely on TSMC’s manufacturing fabrication plants (“fabs”), and being a Taiwanese company, TSMC is subject to a fair amount of geopolitical risk.
